Zero matter

Zero matter is an exotic material found in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It appears in season two of Marvel's Agent Carter.

Properties

Zero matter was discovered during a nuclear bomb test in the late 1940's or early 1950's. The explosion created or coincided with some kind of interdimensional event. Most of the energy from the bomb explosion was absorbed into this event. In the aftermath, a small pool of alien material was recovered from ground zero.

Zero matter appears to be able recreate the interdimensional event under unspecified conditions. When activated, nearby material is engulfed by tendrils of zero matter, which then shrinks back to close to its original size, although samples of zero matter do appear to grow larger after an event.
