Qui-Gon Jinn is a Jedi Master appearing in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. He is currently training Obi-Wan Kenobi. Although a master, he is not a member of the Jedi Council due to his defiance of the council and unwillingness to follow the Jedi code.
He is the Jedi who first discovers Anakin Skywalker as a slave on Tatooine and the young child's unusually high midichlorian count and sensitivity to the Force.
