The old Jedi Order is gone. We have the New Jedi Order now.
Why shouldn't they break with this obsolete idea, which apparently caused much suffering in the times past.
I'm sure in the 25000 years the Republic and the Jedi existed, there were other young Padawans who felt like Anakin about a girl (or a boy?).
