Miles O'Brien was the transporter chief on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and operations chief on Deep Space Nine.

Born on Earth in Ireland, he enlisted in Starfleet instead of becoming a musician. He has a wife, Keiko, a daughter, Molly, and a son, Kirayoshi.
