Continent

A large landmass on an Earthlike, or 'Gaian' planet, contrasted to the ocean. They are formed by the differentiation of light silicon/aluminum rock from the denser silicon/magnesium rock forming the sub-ocean crust.

Some particularly powerful starship weapons can vaporize a continent in one shot, most notably the Eclipse Superlaser.
