Rebel assault frigates were essentially upgraded Dreadnoughts. The Mk. I had large vertical tail-like structures at the stern and a similar 'chin' structure at the bow. The Mk. II was almost completely different from the Dreadnought, and much of the original hull was stripped away. Both versions of the assault frigate had improved firepower and shielding.
