A signature (or sig for short) on a message board is a user-created image, text or animation displayed under each post. These can be used to express the poster's social or political views, like or dislike of certain works of fiction, or simply to entertain.
On SDN, signature privileges can be revoked as punishment for breaking the board rules.
The Civil War Banners are an exmaple of the impact and popularity of certain sig designs.
