The USS Lakota (NCC-42768)wasn an Excelsior-class starship in the 24th century. In 2372, it was equipped with refitted with more phaser banks, quantum torpedoes, and stronger shields. It was put under the command of Captain Erika Benteen in 2372. It later engaged the USS Defiant. Admiral Leyton ordered the Lakota to destroy the Defiant however, Captain Benteen refused.
