Nature of Superweapons

Superweapons are commonly portrayed as immensly powerful pieces of weaponry that can cause massive damage on planets or starships. Another common characteristic of superweapons is that they are, usually but not always, special and singular. As in, there is only one model of the weapon, or has not reached mass production.
