Elite forces

Elite Forces is a general term refering to soldiers which have skills which are more finely developed than the norm, either through being seasoned veterans or through highly developed training.

• The Immortals of the Persian Empire
• The Spartiate class in ancient Sparta
• The Sacred band of Thebes
• The Janissaries of the Ottoman Empire
• US Navy Seals
• The Special Air Service
• Spetznas (Russia)

Elite Forces in science fiction

Elite forces are often found in science fiction and fantasy. Often said forces receive equipment such as Power Armor.

A fairly common trend in science fiction and fantasy is that of very intense training programs designed to create extremely proficient and capable soldiers in order to creat an army of elite soldiers, often taking years with a High attrition Rate. Said programs are often implemented to the point of absurdity, after a certain point people simply run out of things to train them and the number of drop outs means that whatever is gained.
