Orbital defense platform

An orbital defense platform is an armed satellite designed to defend a planet from an invading force.

Examples of Orbital Defense Platforms

• In Star Trek, the Cardassian orbital weapon platforms in the Chin'toka system. (DS9 "Sacrifice of Angels")
• In Babylon 5, Earth had a network of defensive sattilites armed with missile launchers and heavy particle cannons. These were turned on the planet at the last order of president Morgan Clark before he commited suicide. (B5 "Endgame")
