A cybernetic revolt is a scenario in which artificial intelligences turn upon humanity to seize control of the planet, possibly exterminating humanity in the process.

- The first instance of this was in Karel Čapek's Play RUR, although in the original depiction robots are not machines so much as artificial humans.

- The Cylons against the Twelve Colonies in the 2004 Battlestar Galactica reboot.
- The movie adaptation of Isaac Asimov's I, Robot.
