American Civil War
The American Civil War was the first (and so far only) major civil war in American history running from april 12, 1861 to april 9 1865. It started out when Abraham Lincoln was elected president. Rich slave owners in the south, fearing that Lincoln would outlaw slavery, caused a number of states to break away from the United States of America and form the Confederate States of America. This led a war with northern states, which are refereed to as the Union in the war, which led to the Confederate states rejoining America, as well as slavery being allowed. The war is infamous for that fact that more Americas died during it then any other war (some of the battles had more America deaths the every war America had fought in). Massed infantry charges were also shown to no longer be effective during the war with advancements in weapons.
To avoid looking bad, some people on the Confederate side created the Southern Lost Cause writings, which created Neo Confederatism.
