While he was presumed dead by the Goa'uld, although he instead managed to ascend. Seeing the threat he posed, the Ancients "Desended" him to the physical world as a non corporial being. Never-the-less, he retained much knowlage and was able to secretly develop a technologically superior (including upgraded Shields for Ha'tak-class motherships, Advanced Cybernetic Systems and Kull warriors), yet numerically small and attempted to conquer the System Lords.
