Anubis was an powerful Goa'uld from the Stargate universe. He posed as the Egyptian God of the Dead.
History
Even by Goa'uld Standards, Anubis was notable for commiting crimes considered unspeakable and as such was exiled from the System Lords thousands of years ago. While he was presumed dead by the Goa'uld, although he instead managed to ascend. Seeing the threat he posed, the Ancients "Desended" him to the physical world as a non corporial being. Never-the-less, he retained much knowlage and was able to secretly develop a technologically superior, yet numerically small and attempted to conquer the System Lords.
