The Force is an energy field generated by living things in the Star Wars galaxy. A small minority of living things have the ability to manipulate this energy field for "paranormal" effects. Force-sensitive individuals can be identified by a high concentration of microscopic midichlorians living in their cells.
Force-related phenomena include (but are not necessarily limited to):
- Telekinesis
- Telepathy
- Precognition
- Clairvoyance
- Superhuman feats of strength, speed, and endurance
- Generation and control of electric arcs
- Projection of images over interstellar distances
- Rapid healing of injuries (usually of others)
- Luke Skywalker demonstrated limited telepresence, allowing him to appear to and communicate with people in a different star system
- Rey and Kylo Ren exhibit telepresence with each other sufficient to engage in a lightsaber duel remotely
