First Ones

The First Ones are races that evolved to sapience many millions of years before Humans, Minbari, Narns, Centauri, or any of the other Young Races of Babylon 5.

Most of the First Ones went "beyond the Rim" long ago, but two of the First One races -- the Shadows and the Vorlons -- remained behind to help guide the development of the Young Races. A few others had smaller presences lingering in the part of Milky Way where the Young Races lived, but they generally avoided contact with other races, pursuing their own esoteric agendas.
