The Sovereign Class was one of 3 main Anti-Borg designs built by [[Starfleet]] after the [[Enterprise-D]]'s encounter with the Borg at System J-25 in 2365. The other 2 designs were the [[Defiant Class]] and [[Prometheus Class]]. The USS Sovereign was first completed in 2371 and the Enteprise E in 2372. The class was equipped with Regerative Shields and [[Ablative Armor]] for defense. The Sovereign Class's first combat action was the battle of Sector 001 in which the Federation fought a Borg Cube. The Enteprise made it in time to deliver the coup de grace against the cube. During the Dominion War, it was felt that the Sovereign Class would need a bigger armament in order to compete with designs such as the [[Dominion Battleship]]. The original design had 12 Phaser Arrays, 1 Quantum Tube, and 4 Photon Tubes. The Refit was given 4 more Phaser Arrays and 4 more Photon Tubes. These new armaments proved themselves when the Enteprise took on the [[Scimitar]] and lasted much longer than the 2 [[Norexan Class]] Ships.
