Infantry is a term refering to soldiers which are trained and equiped to fight on foot. Infantry are the most basic form of soldiers and has throughout history been the most common form of combat personnel. One of the primary purposes of infantry is to take and hold land.

In science fiction scenarios, infantry is also used to refer to human sized ground based combat robots and power armored soldiers.
