A submarine is a type of ship capable of traveling underwater. Submarines were experimented with since the 18th century, with the first submarine which managed to destroy a ship being the CSS Hunley during the American Civil War, although the submarine's prominence as a key part of the Navy would not arrive until World War 2. The main advantage of a submarine is stealth.
