The B-Wing Starfighter is a prominent Rebel fighter craft introduced before the Battle of Endor.
Designed by Admiral Ackbar and the Slayn & Korpil corporation, it is one of the most heavily armed fighters in the Rebel fleet. Fitted with ion cannons, lasers, blasters and a complement of proton torpedoes, it is capable of engaging small capital ships. Lacking in straight-line speed and suffering from reduced agility due to it's unique rotating hull, its effectiveness in dogfights proved less than expected. Due to this and the difficulty of mastering the craft, it did not succeed in replacing the Y-wing as the Rebel Alliance's heavy fighter of choice.
The design continued to serve throughout the Yuuzhan Vong war.
Armament
- 3 ion cannons
- 2 autoblasters
- 1 standard laser cannon
