The Iconians are an extinct one-episode race from the TNG episode "Contagion". Their most notable achievement was a teleportation technology capable of operating over vast interstellar distances. Despite this strategic advantage, they were apparently wiped out by one or more enemy races centuries before the Federation formed.
An ancient Iconian probe was also able to install code on the computers of the USS Yamato, USS Enterprise, and a Romulan Warbird; the Iconian code attempted to overwrite existing code on those computers, causing numerous system failures on the affected ships.
