An orbital defense platform is an armed satellite designed to defend a planet from an invading force.
Examples of Orbital Defense Platforms
- In Star Trek, the Cardassian orbital weapon platforms in the Chin'toka system. (DS9 "Sacrifice of Angels")
- In Babylon 5, Earth had a network of defensive satellites armed with missile launchers and heavy particle cannons. Just before President Morgan Clark committed suicide, he turned them on the planet. (B5 "Endgame")
