Doctor Strange is a character in the Marvel Universe.
History
Stephen Strange was a highly paid neurosurgeon until his hands were injured in an automobile accident, which resulted in a substantial loss of manual dexterity. Unable to perform surgery, he sought ever more implausible treatments to restore his hands, eventually leading him to the sanctum of the Ancient One in Tibet. There, Strange learned that magic was a real phenomenon, and that he was capable of manipulating extra-dimensional energy to affect the real world.
Attributes
Stephen Strange has a genius-level intellect with expertise in medicine and the "mystic arts". His aptitude for magic proved so great that he achieved Mastery in an extremely short time. He is able to draw energy from alternate dimensions and use it for a variety of effects, including creating binding strands of force, creating protective shields, and projecting his consciousness out of his body.
Unless using some kind of magic to enhance his physical attributes, Strange has normal strength, agility, and endurance for someone of his size and fitness. Due to his injury, he has less manual dexterity than a typical human.
Paraphernalia
- Doctor Strange has become "bonded" with an artifact called the Cloak of Levitation. This artifact allows him to fly, and it appears to be a sapient being in its own right, capable of making decisions and acting on its own initiative to protect Strange. It is highly durable, and it can use its flexible form to entangle and blind foes.
- Strange has at times been in possession of the Orb of Agamotto, an artifact made to contain and control the Time Stone.
- Like most sorcerers of Earth, Strange carries a "sling ring" that allows him to open portals through space to distant locations.
