A Thunderhawk is a type of military dropship used by the Imperium of Man to convey troops from a starship to a planetary landing zone. They are primarily used by the Adeptus Astartes for deploying squads of Space Marines from their battle barges.
Features
A Thunderhawk is easily capable of descending from orbit to deploy troops and then returning to space again. The vessel is heavily armored for a shuttle, and it has heavy bolters, autocannons, missiles, and other weapons to defend against interceptors, suppress enemy surface troops, clear landing zones, and provide air support to allied units.
The standard model carries three squads of ten Space Marines with all of their armor, weapons, ammunition, and other gear. Variant models also exist that can drop one or more fully loaded APCs instead of three squads of marines.
