Othala was the capital planet that the Asgard lived on until 2002 when they evacuated the planet. In 2001, the Asgard launched the prototype O'Neill to draw away three Replicator controlled Bilisknir-class ships into hyperspace and activate the self-destruct to destroy the enemy ships. In 2002, the Asgard boarded large scale evacuation ships and left Othala. They settled on Orilla later after SG-1 successfully activated the time dilation device on Halla.
