Well, it's gone from crap to something actually useful. Thanks, DPR. --Ted C 15:22, 12 August 2008 (UTC) | Well, it's gone from crap to something actually useful. Thanks, DPR. --Ted C 15:22, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
No prob! That other stuff was just aching to be wiped off. Still, wouldn't hurt my feelings if this page was deleted -- or, maybe changed to Single-Environment Planet with desert, jungle, ocean, city, etc. subsections. (also, perhaps Dune should come before Star Wars, with a note that Tatooine was based on Arakis as Coruscant was based on Trantor?)--DreadPirateRobert 19:19, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
* Actually, I'm kind of liking it now that you've taken it in an SF-relevant direction. Deserts figure in a LOT of science fiction; we've just scratched the surface. I never heard that Tatooine was supposed to be based on Arrakis, though. I'd want to see some backup before I claimed that in the article. Further, Star Wars and Star Trek are generally our top subjects on this site, so I usually keep them first in any lists. --Ted C 19:48, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
** When Star Wars first came out, it was a pretty big topic. Hmm . . . the other wiki has this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fiction_inspired_by_Dune#Desert_Planet , and it is mentioned in the starwars.wikia article on tatooine. All that may be veering off topic for this wiki, though. --DreadPirateRobert 14:26, 13 August 2008 (UTC) |
