Shown in Zahn's Heir to the Empire trilogy, the Katana fleet was a fleet of 200 Dreadnoughts slaved together so that all of the ships could be controlled from a single bridge. An error in the master computer resulted in the entire fleet becoming lost for decades, from the Clone Wars until they were rediscovered and recovered. Most of the ships were taken and restored by Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Realism
The Katana Fleet is ridiculously small. On the scale of a galactic conflict, 200 out-of-date warships would be insignificant.
