Fantasy is a genre of fiction involving supernatural elements, generally based on mythology and folklore in one way or another.
Fantasy on SD.net
As fantasy differs from science fiction in many ways, the SD.net BBS has a separate forum for the discussion of fantasy.
As of late, a Fantasy RPG has been created on SD.net.
Genres of Fantasy
Several different sub-genres of fantasy exist, including...
- High fantasy (The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien, A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin)
- Low fantasy (Conan the Barbarian)
- Horror fantasy (the Cthulhu mythos by HP Lovecraft, various things involving Ghosts, vampires and werewolves)
- Superhero Genre (Marvel Comics, DC Comics)
- Martial Arts Fantasy/Wuxia (Avatar: The Last Airbender, Hero and various other stuff that comes out of China and Japan)
