Typical Starfighter unit attached to Imperial Garrisons and Land Forces.
Due to political infighting between the Imperial Army and the Imperial Navy, where the Navy wanted to retain control of the TIEs; while the Army insisted upon it's own starfighters for ground support duties. Due to this, the Ground Support Wing is significantly weaker than it's Naval equivalent, containing only 40 TIEs, instead of the Navy's 72.
These 40 craft are broken down as follows:
- One TIE Bomber Squadron consisting of three flights. (12 TIE Bombers)
- Two TIE/In Squadrons consisting of six flights. (24 TIE/In Fighters)
- One TIE/fc Flight consisting of four craft. (4 TIE/fc Spotters)
Manpower wise; the unit has 110 men, broken down as follows:
- 40 Pilots
- 25 Sensor Technicians
- 25 Flight Controllers
- 60 Ground Personnel
