At least as early as the mid-22nd century, the [[Romulan Star Empire]] was already calling its warships [[Warbird]]s. These ships were of roughly similar design to later Romulan spacecraft, but less than 200 meters in length. It is likely that these ships were used in the [[Earth-Romulan War]].
