Sure, you've heard it before. It's been denied on this website. The Gungans have a Caribbean accent. Watto talks-a with a Mediterranean accent-a, I theeenk. The Nemoidians sound like Charlie Chan's in-laws. Apparently all of the humans (all the ones who hold any sort of social status, anyway) sound like they all went to Eaton or Cambridge together. Wot, wot!
But here's another interesting note -- all of the Jedi (with only two exceptions) have Asian sounding names. Yoda. Obi-wan Kenobi. Qui-gon Jinn. Perhaps George Lucas was aiming for a certain Samurai connection in that -- or maybe, like most of his half-planned "nuances" it was in fact laziness or accident that led to the pattern.
