I finally got to learn more about what was happening in the first study, called PACE study. My wife and i did a lot of reading about the PACE study (pronounced "CALL"), as i'm a little bit of conspiracy theorist. So we looked up any news articles on the study online, but I can't find them anymore (I am glad i didn't get all the negative information before study results came out). If you google "Prozac improves obsessive compulsive disorder", the article you get is not about Prozac, but instead a quote from an article by the British Psychiatrist, Professor Allan Haworth. I found his quote below in part 2 of the first study, part 3 here. "In my opinion, it is the effect of long-term antidepressants that is causing the improvements in both obsessive compulsive disorder and depression. In addition, most of these patients had also been suffering from anxiety disorder and that may account for the improved mental health." (Haworth 2004) So if you look at Haworth's quote, it says "improved mental health". There are some issues with this quote. Firstly, it contradicts what other researchers have been saying. When i look at the PACE paper's results, i find some inconsistencies. The results show that there are statistically significant improvements in both OCD and depression, but there is no improvement.
